Birthday Party F.A.Q.s
When can I have my child’s birthday party?
CMB Birthday Parties are scheduled on Saturdays only. There are three 90 minute time blocks available: 10-11:30am, 12:30-2pm, and 3-4:30pm. Minecraft Birthday Parties are only scheduled in the afternoon time slots. Please call ahead for availability and reservations. Parties must be booked a minimum of 10 days in advance.
How many kids can I invite to my party?
Your party includes free museum admission for up to 12 children. Additional children may be added for $7 each, up to a maximum of 16. Add-on Options (Hands-on Science, Face Painting, and Minecraft) are all limited to 12 children.
Can I invite adults, too?
Yes, we welcome adult guests at no charge. We recommend that you bring at least one adult for every 5 children to provide supervision during your museum experience.
What if I have to cancel or reschedule my party?
Birthday Parties may be cancelled or rescheduled 14 or more days in advance with no penalty. The museum will retain 50% of the fee for any party cancelled within 13 days of the scheduled date. We are unable to issue refunds for no-shows.
Where should my guests park?
The museum has a free, off-street parking lot directly behind our building, which you can access from Willson Avenue. Appropriate spots are marked CMB.
What are the Birthday Party room’s amenities?
Our newly renovated party room has a personalized chalkboard birthday banner, festive party pennants, three tables, chairs to accommodate up to 16 guests, and a private bathroom.
Can I decorate the party room?
Decorations in the party room may only be hung with blue painter’s tape. Masking tape and tacks are not permitted, as they can cause damage to the walls. Table decorations and balloons are permitted.
Does the museum provide plates and napkins?
If you have booked a Basic Birthday Party, you should provide your own paper goods. If you have booked a Best Birthday Party, we will provide the plates, napkins, cups, and utensils for you. Birthday cake is available as an Add-On for both Basic and Best Birthday Parties. We typically have bottled water available for purchase as well. You are welcome to bring your own cake, have pizza delivered, or bring other refreshments; we ask that all food and drink stay upstairs in the party room.
Can the museum help with the cake?
Of course! We have partnered with local bakery, Delicious, to provide a round cake for your party. The cake is a $30 add on and we have various flavors and designs to choose from! We need know by Wednesday before your party if this is something we can help with.
What is the role of the Party Coordinator?
The Best Birthday Party includes a Party Coordinator to help with set up and clean up. Your coordinator will also help to collect presents, leftover food, and other supplies that you wish to take home. The Party Coordinator is not there to cut the cake or serve the food. She/he is there to assist you with any questions or concerns, as well as facilitate any add-on activities you may have chosen. We want you to have a fun and relaxing party! While the Party Coordinator is there to help, please remember that we always defer to a parent for behavior correction, timing, etc. Please be sure to bring enough adults to provide supervision as your guests explore the museum.
